Uganda Airlines To Start Direct Flights To Nigeria

KAMPALA
The government of Nigeria has approved request by the Uganda Airlines to start direct flights to Nigeria.

The revelation has been made by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E Ismail A. Alatise while addressing the media on the upcoming Kampala Business Summit at Uganda Media Centre today.

According to the High Commissioner, the flight will robust bilateral relations between between Uganda and Nigeria anchored on the principles of Pan Africanism and shared values.

“There are fewer measures being taken by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and when complete, Uganda Airlines will start direct flights to Nigeria,” said H.E Alatise

Speaking at the conference, the state minister for Kampala, Kabuye Kyofatogabye said the purpose of this summit is to promote the capital city Kampala to a suitable and liveable city worthwhile for investment for both local and foreign investors.

“The Kampala Business and Investment Summit is an annual event that brings together the public and private corporation, multi-stakeholder engagement and a generation of innovative ideas and solutions to the challenges and opportunities to the city’s ecosystem,” he said

Julius Nsubuga Kazibwe, Executive Director at African Centre for Economic Dialogue (AfCED) and the organizers of the summit is concerned about resizing the scale of business in the informal sector which employs majority of the population adding that the summit will galvanize solutions to finance these businesses.

The Kampala Business Summit is funded by the Kampala Capital City Authority, Nigerian High Commission in Uganda, African Centre for Economic Dialogue, Exim Bank, Uganda Free Zones Authority (Ufza) and Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) among other partners.

It is scheduled to take place between 20th and 21st July, 2023 at Mestil Hotel Grounds, Nsambya.
