Shincheonji Church Challenges Government Over ‘Social Harm’ Claims

The ongoing rift within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) shows no signs of abating, as internal tensions within the party continue to escalate. Former FDC spokesperson, Wafula Oguttu, recently cautioned against actions that could further divide the party, emphasizing the importance of unity in pursuing common goals.

The latest development in the FDC saga came as Ingrid Turinawe, a prominent member, voiced her concerns about the direction of the party under the leadership of Dr. Kizza Besigye. Turinawe highlighted the need for more inclusive decision-making processes and called for a return to the core values that the party was founded upon.

Meanwhile, FDC stalwart Ibrahim Semujju Nganda called for a focus on reconciliations and dialogue among party members. Nganda stressed the importance of avoiding tactics that could erode the party’s strength and unity, urging members to prioritize the collective good over individual interests.

In response to the growing discord, John Kikonyogo, the spokesperson for the FDC, has issued a stern warning to Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his supporters, cautioning them against taking actions that could harm the party. Kikonyogo emphasized that while individuals have the right to explore other political options, it is imperative that they do not undermine the solidarity of the FDC.

He highlighted the history of the party, noting that despite disagreements and factions that have emerged over time, the FDC remains a strong and united force. Kikonyogo extended an invitation to those who have strayed from the party to return, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in achieving common goals for the benefit of all Ugandans.
In particular, Kikonyogo addressed the Katonga faction, urging its members to reconsider their current position and rejoin the FDC at Najanankumbi. He stressed the significance of unity within the party and discouraged any attempts to sow discord or engage in divisive tactics.

As FDC continues to grapple with internal turmoil, the call for unity and solidarity remains a pressing message among party members. The future of the party hinges on the ability of its leaders and members to set aside personal disputes and work towards a common vision that serves the interests of all Ugandans. The upcoming months will undoubtedly test the resolve of FDC as it navigates through these challenging times.
