A woman in Rukungiri district has been killed by her husband in alleged land wrangles.
The deceased is Jennifer Kemigisha, 48, while the suspect has been identified as Charles Musinguzi alias China, both residents of Nyabugando cell, Matsya parish Nyakagyeme sub county in Rukungiri district.
Its is alleged that on Friday 2nd June at around 2100hrs, the suspect who is a husband to the deceased picked a panga and hacked his wife to death by cutting her several times on the body.
Elly Maate, the police spokesman for Kigezi region says that the duo had disagreements over land which Musinguzi wanted to sell and buy a motorcycle for a Boda Boda business but his wife rejected the idea after she realized that the family would be left with no land gor cultivation.
“Police preliminary investigations indicate that the two have been in a long time domestic violence over land which the man wanted to sell and buy a Motorcycle but the wife refused. The suspect out of anger picked the panga and cut the wife to death,” saud Maat
A case of murder was reported to police by the Nyabugando LC1 Chairperson Vanancio Musasizi, 60, and police from Nyakagyeme visited the crime scene.
The deceased body was taken to Rwakabengo HCIII for a post mortem.
Maate confirmed the arrest of the suspect stating that after investigations are completed, he will be arraigned to court.
A case of murder has been filed at Nyakagyeme police station under reference no CRB470/2022.
