A 29-year-old woman in PALLISA district on Friday died at a Pastor’s house where she had gone to seek miraculous healing from anemia disease.
Stella Akurut, a known anemic patient abandoned taking her medicines as prescribed by the medica and went to Pastor Okupa Christopher’s home in Apetete village for miraculous healing prayers.
It is alleged that Akurut was recently diagnosed with anemia and was advised by a local clinic to seek a blood transfusion at Pallisa General Hospital which her family rejected. She was taken to the pastors home for prayers.
Reports further indicate that Akurut has spent seven days at the pastor’s home where she died.
A death case was later reported to police under case file PAL DEF 017/2024, which swiftly swung into actions of investigating the incident.
The Bukedi North Acting police spokesperson, SP Samuel Semewo confirmed this report. He criticized the act of the pastor to hold Akurut at his home despite her worsening health conditions.
The body was taken to Pallisa General Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
