On Wednesday December 15, 2020, at approximately 8:30PM, the police in Pallisa received an emergency call for an Aircraft crash in a wetland in Pallisa District.
According to the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, Immaculate Alaso, the aircraft that was on a flight program belongs to the East African Aviation School.
The incident happened after the cadet pilot, Mercy Mulayi, 24, attempted to land and crashed at Nyakiwa swamp, Ochulia village, Opete parish, Obutete sub-county, in Pallisa District.
The pilot was the only occupant in the Aircraft and she sustained serious injuries.
Alaso said police rescue team responded to the incident and Muliya was immediately evacuated to Pallisa General Hospital for medical treatment adding that she is out of danger.
Police say the cause of the accident is not yet established, but investigations by works ministry, civil aviation authority experts are ongoing meanwhile, as police and the flying school continue to document the scene for further details.
