President Museveni has appointed Wilson Muruli Mukasa, the acting minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
In a letter dated January 13, seen by Parrots UG, the president assigned Muruli as he prepares to appoint a substantive minister
“You Know I have not appointed substantive Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs. Therefore by the powers given to the president by Article 98 (1) and 99 (1) of the constitution, I assign Muruli Mukasa to be the Acting Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs in addition to his role as minter for Public Service,” Museveni’s letter to the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja reads in part.
Muruli who has been cabinet minister of Public Service will according to the president takeover the new assignment alongside his ministerial role at the public service.
The justice and constitutional affairs ministry was previously been occupied by Prof Ephraim Kamuntu. Muruli, has been at the helm of the public service since 2016, and he was in July 2021sworn in for a second term as the minister.
He previously served as Cabinet Minister of Gender and Social Issues from 1 March 2015, until 6 June 2016.
He wad also minister of Security from 27 May 2011 until 1 March 2015.
His name is not new in Uganda’s politics. His role as the member of parliament for Budyebo County in Nakasongola District became a turning point in his political career.
