The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt .Rev Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has asked church of Uganda leaders to serve with honesty, trust and become good ambassadors of Christ to christians.
The Bishop made the remarks on Friday while addressing the diocesan leaders during the first meeting of the 4 year term of service held at Namirembe cathedral Kampala.
Bishop Luwalira has also appealed to leaders and christians to ensure effective utilization of the church land for developmental purposes.
“We need to save and protect church land, but there’s no way we can protect it when its not being used to do the works of Christ.” Bishop Luwalira said.
He added; “the synod meeting of May 3, 2022, proposed that we establish agricultural projects on the church land and in our subsequent meeting we shall discuss the way forward on this proposal.”
Speaking during the meeting, Rev. Canon Henry Ssegawa, who also doubles as the diocesan secretary implored church leaders together with their Christians to embrace the policy of Life insurance as it is very vital in improving health among christians.
“Many people are inclined to insurance thinking its fraud. Insurance is a good service which you should get. As the church, we have entered Memorandum of Understanding with two insurance companies like TIDO which gives I share insurance and UAP insurance that provides life insurance, I argue all of you to join and insure your life and health,” urges Rev Ssegawa.
St. John’s Entebbe church’s Rev. Festo Kalungi read the minutes of this meeting and highlighted on the programmes which the church has so far achieved.
