The National Unity Platform (NUP) faction at Lubaga has disclosed plans to petition the Director of Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli, Major Tom Rwabudongo Magambo to investigate into the authenticity of the party registration at the Electoral Commission by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
This has been revealed by the faction’s Secretary General Paul Kagombe while speaking to journalists at the faction offices in Church zone, Gwembuga Kabowa Rubaga Division in Kampala
During the address, Kagombe accused the Electoral Commission of conniving with the NUP leadership at Kamwokya under Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to take over their political party.
He threatened to furher sue the commission on similar accusations.
“On July 4th, we shall formally lodge in our request to the CID to launch investigations into the documents that Kyagulanyi and and his team presented to the Electoral Commission,” Kagombe said
It should be recalled that NUP has been on tensions after the intial founders of the party (NURP) led by Moses Nkonge Kibalama announced secession from the Kyagulanyi group and opened up a new office in Rubaga.
However, after failed attempts by the Kibalama group to denounce NUP leadership, the Electoral Commission has responded that Kyagulanyi and otber leaders are the rightful leaders of the party.
Gideon Tugume, the spokesperson of the Rubaga faction has said that they are receiving threats from some sections of the public purportedly the supporters of Kyagulanyi threatening to cause harm to them. He warned they will continue to talk the truth and expose the mess within the Kyagulanyi leadership.
