“After a thorough analysis and scrutiny of documents as well as attentively listening to the 8 candidates, the vetting Committee was convinced and unanimously resolved that all candidates were technically competent for the position of Member of Parliament for EALA” says Muzeyi Faizo, tHead of Media and communications at UPC.
The nominated candidates are Hon. Ebil Fred, Mr. Ediau Samuel, Mr. Ogwang Calvin, Mr. Oluka Silver, Hon. Atim Joy Ongom, Mr. Ojok Anok Isaac, Mr. Omiat Andrew J and Ms. Atim Brenda Kinyera.
They will undergo a primary election where only one candidate will be elected the party flag bearer
Ben Bakkabulindi Kigongo, the party Assistant Secretary General says that the UPC parliamentary group is the only eligible body to vote a flag bearer. He noted that the candidates will be voted in a secret ballot election within this week.
He says “A secret ballot is going to be effected and the one who gathers the most number of votes will be our candidate ”
Bakkabulindi also emphasizes the point that the vetting process was to make sure that none of the candidates was unjustly or unfairly handled and therefore dismissed speculations that the office of the secretary general and entire administration were trying to pursue the position from the month of February to date are false.
