Aggrevated robbery suspects arrested in Mubende

At least five suspected robbers haven arrested in Mubende in an intelligence-led operation.

The operation took place in Kibaati village, Kasana ward, East division, Mubende Municipality in Mubende districton Thursday.

The Wamala region police spokesperson Racheal Kawala has confirmed to the arrest of the five suspects but she did not dusclose their name on security grounds

“We cannot reveal their names in order not to jeopardize investigations,” ASP Kawala saud

She noted that the group has been participating in a series of robberies in the area.

In addition, police carried out a search in the suspects’ residence where they recovered house-breaking implements, a toy gun and two pairs of army uniforms which have all been exhibited.

Kawala says that the suspects have been charged with being in possession of government stores, suspected stolen property and breaking implements.

Further records by police indicate that the group had pending charges of aggravated robberies that had earlier been reported against them.

Kawala warned that the operations continue and investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
