The family of fallen army General Elly Tumwine has asked the deceased friends and well wishers to contribute money and buy a plane that will help in flying the Widow to travel to upcountry to check on the cattle.
During a funeral vigil at the deceased family in Nakaseero n Sunday, Tumwine’s foster daughter, Edinah Tumwine disclosed that the deceased children (biological and those he had taken care of) have had plans to buy for him a plane to ease his transportation to the village. She thus asked the family, friends and well-wishers of departed fallen NRA bush war hero not to give up on the arrangements but rather to mobilize funds and buy a chopper for the widow.
She said the chopper will enable the widow (Aunt Joy) as she preferred to her, to routinely fly to their ancestral home Kazo and check on check on her late husband’s property including cows.
“For all the things late Uncle Elly did and has been doing amongst many different people, let’s mobilze funds and purchase a chopper for our Auntie Jolly (Widow) such that she can always fly to Kazo and check on cows. I know all of you are capable, you are driving nice cars with beautiful wives, so let’s join hands. But in case you refuse, I shall buy it myself…” she said while delivering her speech.
Late General Tumwine will be laid to rest tomorrow Tuesday August 30th, 2022 at his ancestral home in Rwemikooma village Kazo district
I believe this country is still at the stage of ‘maalo’. When the ‘liberators’ and their lazy greedy kin that had been so backward before now got access to wealth and resources the likes of which they had never dreamt to see. This mix of childlike maalo to sample and show off every and anything and granting access to positions of resource control on the basis of nepotism to under qualified barbaric thugs with no interest in prioritizing a sustainable vision and efficient government for the future of the country’s progress and development is why 30 plus years later after singing in the liberators we’re still seeing failing parastatals, bogus arguments supporting corruption and mismanagement of resources, massive government expenditures on toys and living large, widened income inequality and expected disasters taking us by surprise.
And how not when the most abundant signs of the ‘change’ are strategic government positions with a tight hold on the nation’s resources run by cliques of appointed incompetents and unspecified unlimited trains of convoys of fuel guzzlers muscling through the traffic on the backs of taxpayers?
