The Uganda police together with the Enivironmental Protection Unit has recovered stolen national identification cards and other documents in areas of Nasana Wakiso district.

This was during an operation aimed at evicting wetland enchroachers earlier this year in Lubijji.

This was reaveled by the deputy police spokesperson Nabbaka Claire during their weekly press breefing today in Naguru.

She identified the criminal as Terwana Hakim commonly known as Umaru who was found in possesion of stolen National IDs, passports, ATM cards, driving permits in his house.

“We were able to recover 10,722 national identification cards, 68 passports 237 Uganda driving permits, 2 motor vehicle number plates , ATM cards from different banks among other documents got” Nabbaka said

She added that this robbery case was registered in Kibuku via CRB205 / 2018 through which the police was able to connect him to this case when one Katwebaze Maureen was robbed of his phones, laptops along Tirinyi Busita road and her ID was recovered in Lubijji.

Twerwana is currently on remand in custody at Budaka prison and is set to appear before the court on 10th of November 2022 to answer charges of unlawfull possesion of another persons property witbout autbority.

“Inquiries are still going on and numerous cases are going to be opened against Terwana and others still at large who are on the run” she added

Nabbaka however, appeals to the public especially those who have lost their documents to report to the criminal Investigations Department in Kibuli to check if their documents are among Or contact police on 072997101/0775335528/ 0755024069.
