Security operatives Eastern DRC have arrested and handed over to Ugandan security in Rwenzori West a woman and her two children, three teenagers suspected to be ADF revlbel recruits.
The suspects include 22-year-old mother, her two sons aged 3 and 5, plus the 3 other teenage girls aged between 11, 13 and 15.
Police preliminary report shows that the suspects had travelled from Buziika village, Njeru sub county, Jinja district and reached the borderline on the February 22.
“While at Banamayi in Kabuyini cell, they were intercepted by the Congolese security, and handed over to our Joint Task Team on the 25.02.2023,” report indicates
Fred Enanga, the police spokesman says that the recruits were being led by an ADF operative (identify not disclosed) on a police wanted list of criminals.
Enanga says that the ADF smuggle children and women to use in hostilities such as frontline fighting, executions, terror related activities. He adds that some women are used for supportive roles as messengers, smugglers or spies among others.
He cauitooned parents and guardians against handing over their children to actors of violence like the ADF.
The 4 recruits were by press time still held at Division offices while the tho young Infants have been handed over to the Mountain Division of the UPDF for further management.
