As 2021 General Elections pressure amounts, famishable Electoral Commission allegedly sold off its electoral birthright to President who has taken over the printing of ballot papers from the commission.

Speaking to journalists earlier today Monday June 8th,2020, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the President FDC, stated that his party has credible information that President Museveni has taken over the printing of ballots from the Electoral commission.

“The FDC has reliable information that Mr.Museveni, the NRM sole candidate for 2021 and future elections has secretly taken over the printing of ballots from the Electoral Commission,” FDC said in a statement.

FDC tasked Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama and his EC to clear the air on reports that President Museveni secretly contracted Veridos to print ballot papers.

“The EC must explain to the country why it has surrendered ballot printing to the NRM,” reads excerpts of a statement.

Amuriat reminded that organizing elections including printing of polling materials is a work of the EC not the President who is also an electoral runner.

During the Press briefing, fdc revealed that party’s National Executive Committee [NEC] on Friday June 5th,2020 approved a revised Internal electoral roadmap calling on members who want to contest for different positions in the forthcoming elections to pick and fill Expression of Interest forms indicating positions of their interests.

According to the Party President, the exercise shall be closed by the end of this month.

The exercise requires anybody interested in contesting for Presidency and MP, aspiring candidates for City Mayors, LCV chairmen must return the forms to the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi Kampala whereas others in the Local Government shall be required to return their forms to district or constituency electoral officials.

In the light to the above, President Amuriat revealed that fdc shall hold her primary elections in July and August for Local Government and later in  August / September for Parliament and President.

Its should be well recalled that FDC conducts Internal Elections every after Five years. The last elections were held in June,2015 and that of president were held on November 27th,2017. This implies that term for current office bearers is expiring on June 31st.

However, the party NEC which sat on Friday resolved to stay the elections and keep the current leaders in their positions.
