RUBANDA

Little Angels Aid Ministry’s efforts to support the vulnerable households in Rubanda district are commendable. With limited resources, they have taken up the noble task of constructing new houses for families affected by landslides. By providing them with safe and comfortable residences, the organization is not only materializing the hopes of those whose homes were destroyed but also improving their quality of life. Little Angels Aid Ministry is a community-based organization in Rubanda district

Reports show that landslides have been a recurring challenge in several districts across Uganda, with severe consequences for people’s lives and households. Little Angels Aid Ministry’s efforts validate the need for collaborative action and community assistance to support those that are most affected. The organization’s founder and director Johnbosco Byomugabe’s commitment to bring together the necessary resources and to lead the initiative is praiseworthy.

Byomugabe said they have already finished building five houses and they plan to build 40 houses for the victims of land slides that occured on 2nd May,2023 approximated to cost 800 millions.

“It Is imperative that more organizations and individuals take up such initiatives, especially in the case of natural disasters, which render people vulnerable due to inadequate infrastructure and inadequate access to resources .As a society, we must prioritize supporting those in need, and organizations like Little Angels Aid Ministry serve as examples and inspirations to help deal with such societal challenges” said Byomugabe.

The efforts of the beneficiaries in expressing their relief and gratitude to Little Angels Aid Ministry indicate the difference this organization is making in the lives of those affected. The government’s recent support for the affected families is a welcome start, but more needs to be done to ensure that every family, whether affected by loss or damage to their properties, receives the necessary support.

Among the beneficiaries were Oliver Tinyebirwe Rwabugundu from Butare-Katojo and William Ngabirano from Nyakabungo cell in Rubanda town council who expressed immense relief and gratitude for the organization’s efforts.

The government recently offered financial support to five families in the district who had lost loved ones due to the landslides. Each family received five million shillings as compensation. However, those who had lost their entire properties, including their houses, were not considered for this assistance, as the President’s directive only focused on compensating those who had suffered casualties or injuries.

Authorities in Rubanda call upon more organizations within the community to support initiatives like Little Angels Aid Ministry to improve the quality of life for their vulnerable neighbors. It is through collective efforts that they can build a more resilient society that can better handle and overcome the challenges they face, such as landslides and other natural disasters.
