President Museveni warned indisciplined Ugandans who don’t listen to Ministry of Health guidelines that government won’t keep on begging them to follow guidelines in order not to die.

“We don’t needd to beg you! why should police be the one to tell you not to die?”

President Museveni was speaking today during the 31st Heroes Day Anniversary at the State House Entebbe.

In his speech, the president condemned the behaviors of some members of the public who don’t respect guidelines prompting security personnels to force them wear masks.

He appealed to people to follow the guidelines at hand by wearing masks while in public places, regularly wash hands, keeping the social distances as well as staying at home for those with no any businesses that would require them go outside their homes.

Museveni who revealed government plans to start distributing free masks effective tomorrow June 10th, urged people to be extra careful so as they don’t contract the virus or transmit it to others.

“I want to remind you the country that one of the strong points of the freedom fighters was discipline if you want us to overcome the virus, listen to the advice given,” Museveni said.

He urged that theweddings, funerals and other mass gatherings which have started emerging must stop to prevent possible spread of COVID-19.

About Hero’s Day.

This year’s Hero’s Day celebrations was supposed  to be held in Lyantonde districts. This however couldn’t come to a success due to the effects of COVID-19.

The Hero’s day is in commeration of the 27 NRA/M bush war heroes who joined the guerilla war that brought President Museveni into power in 1986. Bush war heroes and heroin include the living and the dead: These include; Yoweri Museveni, Elly Tumwine, Salim Saleh (Caleb Akandwanaho),Fred Rwigyema, Matayo Kyaligonza, Peter Kerim,  Joram Mugume,Stanley Muhangi, Patrick Lumumba, Ivan Koreta, Hannington Mugabi, Chef Ali, Ikondere, Akanga Byaruhanga, Dorah Kutesa, Pecos Kutesa, Julius Chihanda, Tadeo Kanyankore, Fred Mugisha, Hajji Musa Kigongo, Gertrude Njuba, Proscovia Nalweyiso, Serwanga Lwanga, Ahmed Seguya, Sam Magara, Eriya Kategaya and Noble Mayombo.

In his speech, the president hailed the heros including civilian veterans for their great work towards the liberation of Uganda.

He later at the end of his speech, asked all the invited guests to standup and bow heads in honor of Maj Gen Kasirye Gwanga who passed on today’s early morning.
