Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator H.E Susan Ngongi Namondo to discuss potential developments to promote relations and improve social service delivery in Uganda.

The UN Resident Coordinator who was in the company of her group of UN agency Representatives paid a courtesy visit to the president at the State House – Entebbe.

“I was pleased that they are willing to support us in our initiative to get the remaining 38% of our population out of “Okukolera ekidda kyonka” (subsistence farming) to the money economy,” the president posted on Twitter.

Museveni further revealed that they held discussions on various topics like the upcoming Non-aligned Movement (NAM) summit, the refugee situation in Uganda, security in Eastern Congo and the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) project.

Representatives of the UN agencies in Uganda led by the Resident Coordinator Susan Ngongi Namondo paid a courtesy visit to President Museveni at State House Entebbe.

Uganda will in January 2024 host the 19th summit of the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) at Speke Resort Munyonyo under the theme; “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.” And will immediately assume the Chairmanship of both the Movement. Similarly, Uganda will host a high-level international summit of the Group of 77+China (G77) two influential groupings of countries from the Global South making her (Uganda) the first country in history to hold the two chairs simultaneously.
