Bushenyi district football team has resolved to honor a match against Sheema district after a stakeholders emergency meeting was held.
The development comes after the Bushenyi district football teams organising committee headed by Micheal Ntegyereize learnt about a statement signed by the organisers of the Ankole district football teams indicating match termination.
“Decision on the termination match between Bushenyi and Sheema districts on July,” reads part of the letter.
The same meeting resolved that the match will proceed as per the original fixture as amended.
The letter also cited that it is unacceptable to change fixtures of the tournament as amended.
“We reject the decision to replay abandoned game between Bushenyi and Sheema district full time because the game was remaining with 13 minutes as per statement yet Bushenyi had already scored a goal on the first half. We can only play the remaining minutes in accordance to the referees decision.” reads part of the letter that was witnesses by our Parrots reporter.
For starters,group A match between the two districts was abandoned by the referee in the 77th minute following the incident in the second half of the match that bred confusion about whether a penalty kick had been awarded or not.
The referee exercised his discretion to terminate the match in the circumstance of imminent danger of violence following the incident.
However, following a review and the available evidence from the match assessors, referees reports,video recordings as well as rules and regulations,the arbitration committee resolved that the match should be replayed today(Sunday) under a different referee.
The committee further decided that sufficient security must be installed in place courtesy of the home team
Earlier alone,Mitooma district football association through their chairman Mwere Bamwesigye had expressed dissatisfaction of the decision of postponing the game.
“We had already informed our fans and we had also printed out the tickets, therefore we are not ready to be fixed on another day because it looks like syndicate being spearheaded by our competitors,” said Mitooma fans
By press time, players from both camps were in high gears preparing to play today’s match that will kick off at 3 pm.
