The police have said that their fellow Moses Ssekyewa who is attached to Kampala Central Police Station is to appear before KCCA City Hall court for degrading the environment.
Few days ago, the officer was arrested and charged with the illegal dumping of wastes in Nakivuubo channel following a viral footage where he was seen with four civilians committing this act.
Speaking to journalists at police headquarters on Monday, police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga said that the Uganda Environment Protection Unit has already started investigating the matter and efforts are now in place to trace for Ssekyewa’s accomplices for prosecution.

“It’s regrettable that an officer who is supposed to better protect the environment was instead the one polluting it”, Enanga noted.
He urged the public to ensure proper management of wastes as illegal dumping is a threat to the environment.
“You are aware waste products have a serious and detrimental impact on our environment and even businesses that are compliant”, Enanga said
