Former presidential candidate who doubles as the leader for the People’s Government Rtd Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has given a way forward on what ought to be done in order to save the FDC party from being sold to those in Government.

Speaking to journalists this morning at his office at katonga road on Monday, Besigye asked party leaders from the grassroots to join efforts to liberate their party from some greedy and selfish leaders intending to transfer FDC to president Museveni.

“I call upon our leaders at the grassroot levels to mobilize, organize and resist this leadership to liberate our party and the country,” Besigye said.

There are rifts within the FDC caused by the alleged dirty money from hostile sources presumably from the State House. According to reports the money estimated at Shs7b came to FDC through Secretary General Hon. Nandala Mafabi to facilitate the 2021 general elections and was received by the party president Eng. Patrick Amuriat. This has created factions in the party between Nandala Mafabi and Dr. Kizza Besigye

On different occasions, the pro Besigye group led by the Kiira municipality member of parliament Ssemujju Nganda and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago have accused SG Nandala and Amuriat of being traitors to the FDC struggle to oust Museveni’s corrupt regime whereas the Nandala faction counter accuse the Besigye group of preaching water and drinking wine.

In order to restore sanity in the party, the founding president Dr. Kizza Besigye has emphasized on the need for some steps to be put in consideration.

He pointed out efforts by FDC NEC leaders to move all over the country meeting local leaders and party members to encourage them to demand for ownership their party.

“The national council will sit and create a transitional leadership that will reorganize all the processes to a new leadership,” he said

Besigye noted that the FDC Electoral Commission is now disabled because it has demonstrated that it is compromised by the hostile influence and asked for a most secure immediate national council meeting to deal with many outstanding critical issues among which are internal elections.

On the issue of dirty money, Besigye advised that senior auditors should be hired to do forensic audit of the part resources because it is important, critical and of a benefit to the party.

He said People’s Government has now started on an effort to establish the real source of the money and the real amount and also which individuals in the party received the cash and they hope that soon they will have all these details.
