Two separate incidents of torture and murder have been reported by the Uganda police, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.

In the first case, two men identified as Kamugisha Godfrey and Kamia Muhammad have been taken into custody by the territorial police in Greater Masaka and Kyotera district for the brutal torture and murder of a 13-year-old boy identified as Jjuuko Patrick. The suspects, led by Tabatina Frank, accused the victim of stealing money on Kagambo’s farm and tortured him at the location. However, they then dragged the boy to Kasambya trading centre, where they continued the torture, which led to his death the following day at God is Able Clinic.

In the other case, six suspects have been taken into custody by the territorial police in Rwizi region and Rwampara CPS for the murder of 48-year-old Tuhirwe Moses. The suspects allegedly tortured and inflicted deep wounds on the victim’s forehead, leading to his death. The incident occurred after Moses had a fight with Mucunguzi Joash. Out of anger, Joash mobilised his friends and went looking for Moses at his home. Failing to find him there, they met him on the way and attacked him.

The suspects in both cases are now in police custody, and efforts are in place to arrest the alleged ring leader, Tabatina Frank who mobilized the the group that killed the 13 year old Jjuko Patrick.

Police has urged the public by to avoid such acts of lawlessness and impunity by observing the rule of law. The police remain committed to pursuing all incidents of torture and murder and ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to book.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson confirmed to us that the six in custody for the torture and murder of Tuhairwe Moses are Mucunguzi Joash 18, Kiiza Sebastiano 30, Ahimbisibwe Augustine 37, Kainerugaba Christopher 22 and Kwikiriza Victor 17.

“The incidents of torture and murder come as a reminder of the dangers of taking the law into your own hands and the need for stronger measures to combat such crimes.” said Enanga.

Police has called on the public to report any incidents of torture and murder to help ensure justice is served.
