“Should God’s house remain closed in Uganda after 8th July ,2020. No one should be surprised when you see us in this new type of attire while praying and lamenting for our nation and it’s leadership while asking God to forgive us for Comparing him with a mere Virus,” said Bishop Kiganda.

Churches, mosques are among other things that were closedown during the first phase of the COVID-19 lockdown in March and all mass worship activities have since been limited to online platforms.

Bishop David Livingston Kiganda, lead pastor at Christian Focus Ministries Kampala.

A section of religious leaders basically from the Pentecostal churches have always petitioned gov’t to reopen churches urging that places of worship are best at maintaining the set guidelines on social distancing and hand washing during prayers. Others argues continued  closure of churches and mosques is a provocation to God at a time when Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 fatalities and many cases as compared to other states.

Another section of religious leaders in different religious denominations previously asked government to lift their lockdown citing out offertory and Tithe crisis with others resorting to digital tithe collections such the use of Mobile money, Bank accounts services to milk from the faithful.

Archbishop Steven Kazimba Mugalu of the Church of Uganda recently told the media that the church HSS already written to government to consider reopening of churches.

Many religious men have become a subject of arrests for conducting Mass / Service with unrecommended number of the congregations since March when the lockdown was declared. City Priest Fr Deogratius Kiibi was arrested in Mpigi while celebrating Mass.

Its not yet clear whether the actions of Pastor DAVID LIVINGSTONE Kiganda are meant to entice his Nakivubo Kiganda zone Christian Focus Centre folks to go into protests for continued closures or an expression of TITHE CRISIS as it has been a case with other pastors.
