A police officer attached to Mitooma police station is on spotlight after he allegedly crashed a vehicle he borrowed from one of the district councillor’s in an accident.

Latest reports on Parrotsug News desk have it that councillor Robert Nuwagira Kikwara, representing Mitooma Town Council to Mitooma district council, is spitting fire at  ASP Sobimana Gerald , police officer attached to Mitooma police station accusing him of failure to replace his vehicle which the latter extremely crashed in an accident a week ago.

In an interview with our reporter, Hon Kikwara said he has for several times asked the officer to replace the vehicle in vain.

“I asked him to settle the matters amicably but he refused, he in stead referred me to sue him to court,” Hon Kikwara told Parrotsug.

He further stressed that the accused officer asked for a two months grace period to replace the damages which he (Kikwara) accepted however, he denied to put this in writings something that worries him.

Background

Its alleged that under normal circumstances, the forementioned police officer  borrowed a corona car Registration No. UAL 134V from his finger and ring friend, Councillor Kikwara whom he told was going for a visit to a neighbouring Ntungamo district.

Unfortunately, while on the journey, the officer got involved in an accident leaving him retreating injuries.

On 7July during evening hours, the police officer while trying to overtake a Baby Coach Bus Registration No. UBB 145S allegedly knocked a Boda Boda Registration No.UDM 902L. The accident occurred in Rwampara along Mbarara-Ntungamo Highway few metres to Nyaihanga. Both the police officer and the Boda Boda rider sustained injuries.

Police visited the scene of the accident to ascertain the situation. The Boda Boda rider was rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital while the bus was allowed to continue the journey.

As photos of an accident made circulations on social media, it was later established that the crashed car belongs to Hon Kikwara.

Efforts to replace the damaged vehicle according to Kikwara remains futile because the alleged officer is not showing any willingness to settle the matters.

“All I need is to sit on around table and reach an agreed consensus to have my vehicle replaced. He asked for two months and I accepted on conditions that we have to put it into an agreement but he is insisting not to put this into writing, I’m worried he may not keep his words,” said Kikwara.

ASP Sibomana when contacted could neither deny nor admit the accusations arguing that he cannot discuss such issues on phone.
