President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reappointed John Musinguzi Rujooki Commissioner General of URA.
The reappointment follows a recommendation by the national treasury board which again seconded Rujooki’s name for a second term.
This was confirmed by the tax regulatory body (URA) in their statement issued on Friday 15th March, 2024.
“This collective endorsement underscores a unified commitment to our nation’s fiscal integrity and prosperity,” URA said in a statement.
According to URA, President Museveni, the national treasury, and the Central Bank (Bank of Uganda) have all shown their unwavering trust and support for the reappointment of Rujooki.
Rujooki was first appointed to the CG of URA on 29th March, 2024, replacing Doris Akol. His four-year contract is expected to expire on 1st April, 2024. This means that he will concurrently run the another four-year term for a second time.
