The Dokolo district Woman member of parliament elect Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori is set to be sworn in this afternoon, during a plenary session at the parliament of the Republic of Uganda.
Aguti, a member of the Uganda People’s Congress -UPC was on March 21 declared the winner of the Dokolo by-election after she garnered 23,044 votes against NRM’s Adongo Elau Okello who obtained 14,001 votes.
“Accordingly, as the returning officer for Dokolo district and in accordance with Section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, declare Sarah Aguti who has obtained the largest number winner and district woman representative to Parliament Dokolo electoral district,” declared Erikwaine Ngobi, the district returning officer at Dokolo DLG Council Hall.
Aguti replaces the former district Woman MP late Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Imat Atim who died on 18th January, 2024 in India of cancer related disease.
Speaking to journalists at their party headquarters today, Sharon Oyat Arach the party spokesperson congratulated the legislator and voters in Dokolo on this remarkable ceremony.
“We congratulate the people of Dokolo upon getting their leader and wish Hon. Aguti a very successful swearing in ceremony at parliament of the Republic of Uganda and the best in her tenure of office,” Arach congratulated.
