During the NRM CEC candidates televised campaigns which took place at party Secretariat at Kyadondo today, Byaboneka pledged to mobilise support for the party in western region if elected.

The name Byaboneka is not strange in western Uganda politics, he has been in limelights for a donkey’s years making him gain much support from the party delegates across the region.

He is reknown for his contributions in reconciling several NRM members. He for instance remembered for his roles in 2016 ceasefires in Ruhinda county which brought together Minister Gen Otafiire and his political rival Captain Kahonda who had grown political hatreds mushrooming from the 2015/16 Primary & General elections.

The two were contesting for the RUHINDA county MP seat which Kahonda overwhelmingly defeated Gen. Otafiire something that created enmity among them and their camps.

On the NRM Vice Chairperson Western Region, Byaboneka is contesting with Dr Chris Baryomunsi, Ambassador Matias Kyaligonza, Florence Kintu Tumwine, Dr Deen Kisambo, and former MP Boaz Kafuda.

But the three frontrunners in the race are: Byaboneka, Kyaligonza and Dr. Baryomunsi.

Western Region consists of the districts in Toro, Ankole, Kigezi, Bunyoro and the Rwenzori sub region.

The news of Byaboneka’s candidature were wormly received at home and many NRM CEC delegates across the region are pledging their support come tomorrow when they are expected to choose leaders.

May the best candidate win.
