“I call upon you to always uphold integrity and medical professional ethics because your role carries a significant responsibility.i urge you to uphold the highest standards of integrity in all your interactions and make decisions based on the best interest of your patient.” said Alupo.

“Listen carefully always, speak with empathy, kindness and approach every patient with compassion can be a vital tool in their healing process by building trust.”

“In this era of rapid technological advancement and ever evolving health care, your role will be crucial in driving innovation within the medical field. Let us use technology tom our advantage and be catalysts of change that will transform patient care wherever you will be,”

“Remember innovation is not only about developing new tools and techniques it’s also about fostering culture of continuous improvement learning therefore as you step into new chapter, I urge you to do with a sense of purpose and commitment to excellence.”Alupo added

Additionally , medics were urged to value leadership and ideology training they are getting at Kyankwanzi because it is important for their career development.

“The path you have traversed to get here is a testament of your perseverance and commitment to excellence and a living desire to serve others. You have navigated the complexes in medical training with grades and resilience and today you again stand here in Kyankwanzi to empower yourself with knowledge in the direction of patriotism.” said Alupo

“Patriotism is often spoken in terms of national pride and service, today I encourage you to build the spirit through in line of profession.”

A total of 204 medical professionals which include 124 doctors, 54 nurses and 24 midwives are undergoing a ten day ideological training at NALI Kyankwanzi. This is after they requested the chief patriot President Museveni for an ideological training before they are deployed for work so that they are able to serve Ugandans with humanity and love for their country.

Speaking at a ceremony to open the induction l, Hellen Seku the Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) assured the Vice President that the crop of medical professionals will be a unique one when they finally go out to serve the public.

“Allow me our chief guest to inform you that after this training, these medical professionals are going to be special in a way that they will not ask for money before attending to a patient, they are going to do a right thing by providing patient care with love,”

“They will go and fight corruption in the medical field and they will also be ambassadors of change from wherever they will be deployed to work.” said Seku

It is from this background that Alupo guided them to interest themselves with knowledge due to an evolving field they are going to operate into.

“I also want to call upon you to embrace lifelong learning, I am happy you are equipped with a solid foundation but medicine and nursing are fields that are constantly evolving technologies, treatments are always changing therefore, attend workshops, read journals and seek out mentors who can offer you guidance remember every day is an opportunity to expound knowledge and skills,”

“Iam happy you are in a right place you will be able to combine the patriotism knowledge to the one you already have and you will be an all-rounder by the time you finish this training.” noted Alupo

Gov’t Commitment to support medical professionals

During the ceremony, Vice President Alupo revealed that the government has expanded the human resource structure that will create an opportunity for numerous medical interns. She assured that the government is committed to support medical professionals in Uganda. Alupo said that expansion of human resource structure will include medical officers deployed to Health Centre III level something which she says will create more opportunities for many post internship care workers to be deployed in government institution.

“To support your work and improve patient outcomes, we are investing heavily in expanding health care structure by modernising medical facilities, enhancing that all health care centres are equipped with necessary tools and equipment as we aim to provide you with the best possible conditions to deliver high quality care,” she explained.
