BUSHENYI
A devastating hit-and-run accident occurred on September 1, 2024, at around six pm, at Nyampungi Trading Centre along the Ishaka-Kasese road. Two lives were tragically lost in the incident, which has left the community in shock.
The deceased, Mugema Geoffrey, a 58-year-old male rider, and Tumusiime Tophas, a 35-year-old female passenger, both residents of Bushenyi District, were traveling from Kasese towards Ishaka when their motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFS 092Q, was knocked by an unidentified trailer coming from the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the fatal collision. The driver of the trailer fled the scene, leaving the two victims to succumb to their injuries.
Police was promptly notified, and a team led by IP Baguma Joseph, OC Traffic Ishaka, and Sgt Kabagambe visited the scene. A sketch plan was drawn, and the bodies were taken to Comboni Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examinationexamination according to Martial Tumusiime the police spokesperson for greater Bushenyi.The motorcycle was later taken to Ishaka Police Station for further inspection.
