The National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president , Kyomugasho Jolly Mugisha has passed away, party President Robert Kyagulanyi confirmed.
“It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform Deputy President for Western Uganda,” said Kyagulanyi.
According to reports, Mugisha passed on Monday afternoon at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where she has been admitted in a coma for a couple of weeks.
Kyagulanyi described her as a heroine who worked tirelessly to promote NUP activities in Western Uganda, the region that has for decades been dominated by the ruling NRM.
“Mama Jolly will always be remembered as a true Ugandan heroine. Other communication will be made in due course,” Kyagulanyi added.
Mugisha joined NUP in July 2020 and was appointed the party’s deputy president for Western region. By the time of her death, she was also serving as the Vice Chairperson of the National Consultative Forum for all the registered political parties and organizations, where she is representing her party.
