The National Drug Authority (NDA) has carried out an intelligence-driven enforcement operation, leading to the arrest of three individuals engaged in drug vending at open shift-markets in Bukhaweka and Butilu, located in Namisindwa District.
The arrested individuals who were identified as Kisubi Jamada, Ali Matovu, and Mutawa Clemensia were discovered illegally displaying, selling, and promoting human drugs in unauthorized locations under poor conditions including scorching sunshine.
Among the confiscated items were classified medicines, including ARVs, antimalarials, HIV testing kits, veterinary products, and unregistered herbal remedies, all displayed in the open under the harsh sun.
As a result of the operation, five boxes of assorted drugs and sound systems used for public announcements were seized. The suspects are currently detained at Mbale District Central with their case files forwarded to the state attorney for prosecution.

The three face charges that include unlawful possession of classified drugs, unauthorized advertising, and operating as pharmacists without the required licenses, among other offenses.
