Rubaare Police Station in Ntungamo District is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a five-year-old boy in a road accident.
The deceased, identified as Forgod Mwegesa, was a pedestrian and the son of Benon Mbamanya, a resident of Katabona Cell, Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council.
The accident occurred on March 4, 2025, at Omunsheyi along the Ntungamo-Kabale Road. It involved a government vehicle, registration number UG 2900071, belonging to the Ministry of Minerals and driven by Paul Ndawula.
According to police reports, the deceased was walking home from school with his peers. While the rest of the children successfully crossed the road from left to right, heading in the direction of Rwentobo, Forgod was left behind. In an attempt to follow them, he collided with the speeding government vehicle, which was traveling from Kabale to Ntungamo, and died on the spot.
The scene was visited by AIP Bernard Manzi and his team. The body was taken for a postmortem examination, while the vehicle was towed to Rubaare Police Station pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
