The first incident involved Vincent Kaweesi, 25, a student at Uganda Technical College (UTC) Kahaya. His body was found by the roadside in Kahaya Village, Rwentuha Town Council, along the Bushenyi-Mbarara Highway.

According to preliminary police reports, Kaweesi was last seen leaving the college on March 18 for an outing at an undisclosed location. Police noted that he was known to be an alcoholic, and his body showed no external injuries.

“The deceased was found lying on his chest with blood oozing from his mouth and nose, and his neck appeared loose,” the police reported.

In a separate incident, a 9-year-old boy discovered another body along Basajja Road in Ishaka Division and alerted local residents, who then informed the authorities. The deceased was identified as Abel Kyokubanza, 45, a street beggar who had been living in Kisenyi, Ishaka.

Mollen Natukunda, a local resident, told the police that Kyokubanza had been sick and was recently seen seeking a Local Council 1 letter to access medical treatment.

“He had been ill, and I recently saw him at the LC1 office requesting a letter to get medical care,” Natukunda said.

She added that Kyokubanza was originally from Mitooma District and had moved to Ishaka about five years ago, surviving on casual labor.

Similar to the first case, police confirmed that Kyokubanza’s body had no visible injuries, ruling out physical harm.

“The body showed no external injuries. It was well-nourished and dressed in a short jean trouser and an NRM T-shirt of Hon. Kabura,” the police report stated.

Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, SSP Marcial Tumusiime, confirmed that both bodies were retrieved and taken to Kitagata hospital for further examination as investigations continue.

“The bodies, with PF 48A and 48B, were submitted to Kitagata Hospital for postmortem examinations. Inquiries are ongoing, and we will provide updates as the investigation progresses,” Tumusiime stated.

Residents have since expressed growing concerns over safety of their lives, and called on authorities to strengthen security in the area.
