The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the needs of Ugandans through effective leadership and service delivery. This was emphasized by the party president, Hon. Jimmy Akena, during the handover ceremony of an ambulance donated to the people of Dokolo by Woman MP Hon. Sarah Aguti.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Hon. Akena assured the public that UPC remains dedicated to improving the welfare of Ugandans.

“UPC will address the plight of the people of Uganda properly and effectively,” he stated, underscoring the party’s focus on healthcare and community support.

Hon. Aguti, who fulfilled a pledge she made during her by-election campaigns, said the ambulance donation was aimed at improving emergency medical services in the district.

“This is a promise I made to my people, and I am honored to fulfill it today,” she said.

However, Akena blamed the government for failing to improve social services, particularly healthcare, despite it being its mandate.

“What Sarah has done is commendable, but she is doing it because of the government which is not caring about its people,” he said.

“I want to be known as a man who saves people’s lives,” he added citing his 2026 presidential bid.

The ceremony was attended by key UPC leaders, including the Secretary General Hon. Ebil Fred and Lango Regional Vice Chairperson Cde. Chris Ongom. Also present were party district leaders, Members of Parliament, and aspiring candidates who expressed their support for initiatives that directly benefit the communities.

The donated ambulance is expected to enhance access to healthcare services, particularly in emergencies, and strengthen the region’s medical response capacity. Community members expressed gratitude to Hon. Aguti for her commitment to service delivery, hoping for more similar interventions in the future.

UPC leaders encouraged continued unity and support for the party as they work toward national development and improved governance.
