KAMPALA

Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport recorded an increase in international passenger traffic in March 2025, with 178,383 passengers passing through its terminals. This reflects a rise of 6,393 passengers compared to the same period in March 2024, signaling a positive trend for the country’s aviation sector.

An average of 5,754 passengers traveled daily, with 83,661 arrivals and 94,722 departures. The surge follows a mixed trend in previous months, as February 2025 recorded 161,095 international passengers, a dip from 175,630 passengers in February 2024. Despite the fluctuations, January 2025 set a remarkable milestone with 216,740 international passengers—the second-highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history.

Industry analysts attribute the March 2025 growth to Uganda’s hosting of major international conferences, tourism promotional efforts, and the introduction of new airlines. Flynas commenced direct flights between Riyadh and Entebbe in January, while Uganda Airlines continued expanding operations on fresh routes, fueling increased travel demand.

Cargo transportation also remained strong, with exports surpassing imports, contributing to Uganda’s foreign exchange earnings. The airport recorded 5,852 metric tonnes of cargo, comprising 1,965 metric tonnes of imports and 3,887 metric tonnes of exports.

With aviation trends indicating continued passenger and cargo traffic growth, Entebbe International Airport is cementing its role as a crucial gateway for international travel and trade in the East African region.
