More than 1,000 youth leaders from Soroti City and Soroti District gathered on Sunday at the party’s offices in Soroti to strategize and prepare for the elections. The meeting was led by FDC National Youth Chairman, Francis Adepo, who emphasized the party’s commitment to securing victories at all grassroots levels.

“This is a defining moment for Uganda’s youth to rise, organize and claim their space in leadership,” Adepo told the crowd. “We are ready to build a future where young people have real representation, and the FDC is leading that charge.”

Atemo Mary Gorret, the FDC National Youth Secretary General and aspiring Woman MP for Kumi District, and Nakayenze Phiona, the party’s National Vice Youth Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, urged the youth to remain united and focused. They described the elections as a critical opportunity to reshape Uganda’s political landscape, and called upon the youth to participate in youth elections under the FDC banner.

Senior FDC leaders from the Teso sub-region, including former MP Hon. Attan Moses, Soroti City Mayor Hon. Omer, and Soroti City Speaker Hon. Juliet, attended the meeting in a show of support.

Edolu Solomon, Chairperson of the FDC Youth League for Soroti City, pledged to secure wins in all cells within the city and surrounding areas. He said grassroots organizing and youth unity would be the driving forces behind FDC’s electoral success.

“Our strength lies in the villages, the neighborhoods, and the voices of young people ready for change,” he said.

The youth elections, conducted under the SIG framework, are expected to be a key indicator of political sentiment among Uganda’s youth, who make up over 70 percent of the population.

Adepo challenged the youth that their votes will be central in challenging the ruling National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) grip on power.

“As the ruling regime loses touch with the needs of the people, a transformative wave is rising,” he said.
