Police in Ntungamo District have launched a manhunt for a woman who fled the scene after a man died while allegedly having sex with her.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 15, at the suspect’s residence in Kacerere, Nyarwanya, Rubaare Town Council at around 2:30 PM.
Eyewitnesses identified the woman only as Kellen, a resident of the area. The deceased man, whose identity remains unknown, was only described by locals as a lumberer who has been working in the area and other neighboring villages.
According to the area vice chairperson, Deus Byamugisha, the suspect fled immediately after the man collapsed and died on her chest during the act. The death was reported to police shortly after the incident, but residents claim there was a delayed response from the authorities.
Area councilor and acting LC III Chairperson for Rubaare Sub-county, Coleb Rweguuta, reportedly intervened after initial police inaction, prompting detectives from Rubaare Police Station to finally respond. The officers retrieved the body and transported it to Itojo Hospital for a postmortem examination.
By press time, police had not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter. The suspect remains at large meanwhile as investigations continues.
