KAMPALA

Police in Kampala have arrested their own after he was filmed assaulting a female fuel pump attendant at Shell Kyanja, after she reminded him to clear his unpaid Shs30,000 ($8) bill.

In the 45-second video circulating widely on social media, a man dressed in civilian clothes is seen berating a female cashier who had reminded him to pay. He brutally beaten her, asking if she had driven the car he was using, threatening to slap and drag her to court.

“I am parking; have you ever driven such a car?” he says before adding, “She’s there disturbing me over Shs 30,000. How much money have I spent here? Do you think I can run away with Shs 100,000? I can slap you even with these cameras here and tomorrow we go to court,” said a man who was later established to be a police officer.

ASP Clive Nsiima, suspect of assault in Shell Kyanja scuffle over unpaid Shs30,000 Bill.

The spokesperson of the Uganda Police Force, Rusoke Kituuma, confirmed that the suspect is a police officer at the rank of Assistance Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to Counterterrorism police under Oil and Gas department.

ACP Kituuma identified the officer as ASP Clive Nsiima, and confirmed his arrest.

Kituuma said the suspect has been detained, and will be charged, stating that no one is above the law.
