Police in Nateete have arrested seven suspects in connection with a surge of motorcycle robberies that had sparked public outcry in the communities of Lungujja, Kosovo, Mutundwe, and Nakawuka Road.
The operation, conducted on 11th December 2025, specifically targeted motorcycle thieves. According to police, the suspects posed as customers before attacking riders and stealing their motorcycles.
The suspects have been identified as: Mwesigwa Denis, Washington Erias, Niwugu Samuel,Nasasira Derick, Medy Mbabali and Nsereko Sam.
Police recovered two motorcycles registration numbers UEW 612H and UMA 471AG along with other exhibits believed to have been used in the attacks.

The suspects are currently being held at Lungujja and Wakaliga Police Stations, and a case of aggravated robbery has been opened. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation, police at Central Police Station (CPS) arrested Mugabi Hakim, also known as “Younger”, a notorious pickpocket operating along Luwum Street. He was apprehended on 12th December 2025 around the Mutasa Kafeero area at approximately 12:00 pm.
In a police statement,the Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat crime during the festive season.
“Our operations continue, especially as we enter the festive season, in a bid to curb criminal activity and ensure the safety of residents,” she stated.
