According to the Returning Form for Transmission of Results released and  signed by Nabukenya Teddy, last night at 12:20AM midnight, at the District Council Hall, Karyeija, NRM,  won overwhelmingly with 40,331 (Forty thousand three thundred thirty one) votes against his FDC opponent , Moses Mwijukye who garnered only 6713 (Six thousand seven hundred thirteen) votes, from 47044 (Forty seven thousand forty four)  a total number of valid votes casted for each candidate.

While releasing the results, Nabukenya revealed that a total of 260 (Two hundred sisxty) were invalid votes, 31 votes were spoilt, while 47,304 (Forty seven thousand three hundred four) was a total number of Ballot Papers counted.

Karyeija’s victory is a reclaim of his seat which was taken away from him by a column of his councillors in 2017 after he was censured on allegations of misuse of office and other corruption related scandals.

Celebrated for fighting against Banana Bacteria Wilt, a disease that had destroyed banana plantations in the district between 2010 and 2012, fighting against Teachers’ absenteeism in government schools and fostering development in the district, among other achievements, Karyeija has held the LCV chairperson seat since 2010 when Mitooma was accorded a district status.
