The lead pastor of Christian Life Ministries, Jackson Ssenyonga, has asked Miracle Centre Cathedral’s Robert Kayanja to stop linking him to an ongoing court case involving allegations of sodomy.

Addressing journalists at his church in Makerere Kavule, Kampala, on Tuesday, Ssenyonga dismissed claims that he is pursuing Kayanja through the courts, describing the assertions as false and a misrepresentation of facts before court.

Kayanja is currently battling a case in which nine male youths allege that he sodomized them. It is also alleged that his phone was used to initiate a WhatsApp conversation involving nude images and other explicit videos sent to one Reagan Ssentongo on February 26, 2021, which were later deleted.

However, court proceedings recently indicated that no sex videos were found on Kayanja’s phone.

In a related development, Kayanja has issued legal threats against Pastors Ssenyonga and David Livingstone Kigganda, among others, over alleged defamation. He claims the pastors are behind efforts to pursue him in the case.

But Ssenyonga denied any involvement, warning Kayanja against repeatedly mentioning his name in connection with the matter. He accused Kayanja of using bloggers to spread misleading information about the case.

“Pastor Kayanja, through bloggers sympathetic to him, and some of his witnesses and cronies, has tried to push a false narrative that I and other pastors are pursuing him. This is totally wrong,” Ssenyonga said.

Suspects in the Pr. Kayanja case.

He further challenged Kayanja to focus on presenting evidence in court rather than, he said, “seeking sympathy through distorted narratives.”

Ssenyonga also denied allegations that he used his bodyguard, Wasswa Israel, to fabricate a forensic report, clarifying that Wasswa is not his bodyguard but one of the accused persons in the case.

He described social media content, including TikTok videos by individuals allegedly sympathetic to Kayanja, as a deliberate distortion of facts.

“Using bloggers to divert attention from the real issue before court while damaging my image will not change the real evidence on the court record.” he added.

Ssenyonga warned that he would take legal action against bloggers he accuses of defaming him and pledged legal support to journalists and others who may face intimidation in relation to the case. The matter remains before court.
