The Uganda Police through the deputy spokesperson for Kampala metro politan Luke owoyesigyire have confirmed a fire outbreak at Mogas fuel station in seeta leading to traffic disruption along Kampala -Mukono highway.
”The Police Fire and Rescue Services have responded to a fire outbreak at Mogas, Seeta. Efforts to extinguish the fire are currently ongoing, and the exact cause of the incident will be communicated in due course”. Owoyesigyire confirmed the fire outbreak.
Owoyesigire has confirmed that due to the ongoing firefighting operations, traffic congestion has started building up in the area, affecting the normal flow of traffic and the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has advised road users to use alternative routes to ensure smoother movement.
”Motorists traveling from Mukono towards Kampala are advised to divert via Seeta–Sonde Road through Namugongo to access the city”.the statement reads.
“Those traveling from Kampala to Mukono are encouraged to use Jookas through Namanve Industrial Park or alternatively the Northern Bypass via Naalya–Sonde–Seeta”the statement adds.
The authorities have apologized for the inconveniences caused and urge the public to remain patient as they work to manage the situation.
According to the Annual police crime report of 2025,a total of 1,310 incidents and rescue operations were handled compared to 1,595 in 2024 representing a 17.9% decrease.Out of the incidents registered,1,000 were fires while 310 were rescue operations.970 fires were responded to and managed by response teams.20 were handled before arrival and 10 were false calls.
