The government of Uganda has asked families whose persons were injured or killed by stray bullets during the November 2020 riots file formal complaints with police.

Government through its spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo aka OO,  the Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre advised those that were injured to keep their treatment receipts for compensation in due time.

Over 50 people were reportedly killed and many others injured between November 18 and 19 during the riots in Kampala and other metropolitan areas following the arrest of Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu in Luuka district where he was going to hold a political rally.

Speaking to journalists at the media centre, Ofwono Opondo has implored  the victims to seek services of lawyers who will guide them in filing the right information to police but at the same time asked them to be patient as the compensation process takes a while.

Last year, President Museveni pledged that his government would compensate victims of the violent protests and families of the people who were killed by the bullots upon verifying the facts.
