The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has dismissed as falsehoods news circulating on social media alleging that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has appointed his biological son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Keinerugaba the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
On Sunday, reports circulated social media and some mainstream media alleging that President had appointed his son to the CDF position replacing Gen. David Muhoozi who was appointed state minister for internal affairs.
Many users posted on social media congratulatory messages to Gen. Kainerugaba upon taking a new position while others accused the President of practicing open nepotism.

The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso has however refuted the news saying that its falsehoods.
She noted that the UPDF will communicate on the changes made by the Commander-in-chief in a shortest time possible.
