The Director Mbarara regerral hospital Dr Celestine Barigye, has asked healthworkers to desist from evil habits of overcharging COVID-19 patients who are being treated at the hospital.
Dr. Barigye made the remarks on Thursday while he received equipments such as ICU beds, mattresses among others that were donated to the hospital by Global Health Corporation.
He revealed that management has already received complaints from some of the patients against some healthworkers who demand for largesums of money for medical treatments.

“We already have records of some healthworkers who are asking for bribes from patients before they attend to them,” Barigye said before adding;
“Anyone caught involved in these bad acts risk losing their jobs.”
During a function, the hospital also received donations worth 5 millions from Mbarara Traders Association.
Speaking to journalists, Steven Asiimwe, Programmes Director Global Health Corporation hailed activities by Mbarara hospital in the fight against COVID-19. He said the donated equipments amount to 130 millions.
He further urged to members of the public to adhere to the ministry of health guidelines and observe Standards Operation Procedures on COVID-19 if this disease was to be fought out of the country.
