Police in Kanungu district have in custody Vian Byamukama, a 33-year-old male on allegations of assaulting his own father to death.
Byamukama allegedly murdered his farther Kasuka Gabriel, 63, after he intervened in his marital affairs.
The incident happened on Sunday night at around 9 PM in Rurama cell Rwekyende parish Kihanda sub county Kanungu district.
It is reported that on Sunday night Byamukama under the influence of alcohol started beating up his wife Namanya Adera, 26, who made an alarm that attracted the husband’s parents.
Jane Kyarimpa, the suspect’s mother says that when they reached their son’s home they found the two fighting inside their house, the deceased then pushed the door and broke into the house which gave the wife an opportunity to take a french leave.
This according to Kyarimpa angered the suspect who to transfer anger to his father and shattered his head with a piece of wood and bricks leading to his death.
Edisa Musimenta, the deceased elder sister reported the matter to the area lo al chairperson who also reported the same to Kirima police post.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, said kirima police led by the OC visited the scene of the crime and arrestes the suspect to help in investigations.
“Our detectives led by D/CIDO and SOCO this morning visited the scene and recovered number of exhibits including dry pieces of wood, broken pieces of bricks and a hammer all with blood stains.” Maate said.
Maate condemned acts of domestic violence in married couples which are on rampage in Kigezi noting that police will not keep close an eye to the perpetrators.
By the time of this publication, Byamukama was being detained at Kanungu police station and murder case was filed under reference number CRB 325/2021.
