The Prime minister of Uganda Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja Musafiri has set Wednesday this weekbas the deadline for the disbursement of COVID-19 relief cash to vulnerable Ugandans affected by the lockdown.
Government through the ministry of gender last week on Thursday launched the disbursement of Ugx 100,000 COVID-19 relief package to the vulnerable groups across the country.
By yesterday, only about 60,000 people had received their UShs100,000 mobile money package yet government intends to reach out to 501,107 beneficiaries.
While addressing journalists yesterday, Aggrey Kibenge, the ministry of Gender Permanent Secretary said they are doing all they can to pay up all the beneficiaries distributed in over 20 cities and municipalities.

The cities and municipalities to benefit from this relief package are; Rukungiri, Shema, Ibanda, Kisoro, Arua, Gulu, Kotido, Kitugum, Busia, Hoima, Mbale, Bushenyi-Ishaka, Soroti,Masindi, Kabale, Bugiri, Apach, Entebbe,Mukono, Nansana, Kiira, Makindye, Rubaga, Kampala Central, Nakawa.
Kibenge however disclosed that none of the cities or municipalities has sent in 100% of their data for verification.
“We are working hard to see to it that we enter more names into the system and be able to have most people paid by the Wednesday deadline given to us by the Prime Minister,” Kibenge said.
