Police in Mityana on Thursday arrested Vincent Katumba, a 35 -year-old prime suspect for allegedly murdering Rev Fr Josephat Kasambula of Lwamata Parish in Kiyinda-Mityana diocese.
“Police has arrested a one Katumba Vincent aged 35 for allegedly murdering Rev.Kasambula Josephat aged 65years the Parish Priest of Lwamata Catholic Parish Kiboga District,” Charles Twiine PRO police CID said.
On August 18, while at lukunyu village , kyegonza sub county Gomba district, Katumba stabbed and killed Fr. Kasambula in alleged land dispute.
It is alleged that the priedt had gone to supervise works on his land in Lukunyu Village part of which Katumba had illegally acquired and was staying on it.
When asked about authorisation of occupying the land, Katumba overrun emotional picked a knife and stabbed the priest to death.
Fr Kasambula was laid yo rest yesterday at Kiyinda-Mityana dicease semetery whereas the suspect was interdicted by police on a water canoe while trying to escape.
The police CID mouthpiece Charles Twiine has said that murder charges to be preferred against him.
