Vendors in Kasubi market in Rubaga division,Wakiso district has a hundred reasons to smile after ck Associates hands over a completed work of a new marker to Kampala capital city Authority ( KCCA)on Wednesday.
The event was endorsed by the Kcca acting executive director Engineer Andrew Kitaka.
Kitaka applauded the government of Uganda for the huge investment support rendered to them which led to the smooth running of the project.
The Sh.2bn that completed this work was from the government of Uganda and we did our best and now the work is complete, this is the accountability.”Kitaka said.
According to Peter Kauju the spokesperson of KCCA,the new home will give the vendors a new morale to do their work.
“For the vendors that have spent decades working from the Kasubi roadside being hit by direct sun and rain God has finally heard their cry, even it has been so hard to get loans from banks because the money lenders are not sure whether where you have worked from today will still be the work place tomorrow and onwards but now they have got a permanent home.”Kauju stated.
The work was commissioned in May last year under CK Associates.
Ronald Zibu the chairman of the market all the vendors are to get spaces in a new market.
“This is what Kasubi market vendors have been yearning for, currently those who are requesting for stalls are more than those in the market but the stalls were built to shift vendors that sell their marchandise from the road side to a new market.”Zibu said.
KCCA will officially handover the new market to vendors . The market accommodates approximately1400 vendors.
