Kakumiro: It was darkness in the court room as Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC presidential candidate and his driver were arraigned in magistrate court in Kakumiro district.
The joint Anti terrorism squad under the command of regional Police Commander, SP Obura, earlier today intercepted and arrested POA and his campaign entourage at Kasalaba in Buyanja county East – Kibaale District.
They were taken to Kakumiro Central Police Station from where he and his driver, Micheal Emorut were arraigned before court at 7:30pm.
POA was charged with seating on top of his vehicle at kasalaaba in kibaale District whereas his driver was charged with reckless driving.
The accused, represented by their counsel, Franklin Byekitinisa pleaded not guilty of the charges against them. They then applied for a bail.
Court presided over by Abdallah Kaiza, the Kakumiro district grade one magistrate granted a non cash Bail of Shs 500,000/- to the accused and were ordered to return to court on February3, 2021.
