An Instructor at Bushenyi Vocational Institute (BVI) in Ishaka-Bushrnyi municipality is receiving guarded treatment at KIU teaching hospital after an alleged murder by assault of a friend in a bar brawl.
The suspect is Alex Musinguzi, 43, a resident of Rwemiswa village, Kakanju parish, Kakanju subcounty, Bushenyi district. He allegedly murdered God Tebekana, 45, a resident of Mazinga village, Nyakaborizi Division in Bushenyi district.
SP Samson Kasasiira, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson said in a statement that the duo was seen drinking alcohol in a bar together at Rwemiswa trading centre on November 22. They later developed a misunderstanding and a brawl ensued.
“The two developed a misunderstanding and one God picked a stone and hit Alex on the upper part of the left eye and he bled, there after one Alex moved to the road and waited for God so that they fight, indeed they fought,” read a statement in parts
This prompted a highly charged Alex (the suspect) to rush home where he picked a panga and returned to the trading centre ready to reignite the fight.
“A new fight ensued and they both hurt themselves using the same panga and sticks, God Tebekana was cut badly on the head and was unconscious, Alex was taken to KIU Teaching Hospital while God remained on the road side bleeding as he was not known in the area, but later he was also taken to KIU Teaching Hospital,” Police reported.
Unfortunately, God died from the Hospital at around 1100/c.
A case of murder by assault was reported to police by Lauren Taremwa, LC1 chairman of Rwemiswa village, Mzinga parish , Kakanju subcounty Bushenyi district and a file opened vide CRB 1083/2023.
“They both assaulted each other and sustained injuries. The deceased had open injury on the hand, thigh and several cuts on the head. The suspect also has cut injuries on the head,” police reported
SP Samson Kasasiira condemned the incident and noted that they recovered a panga and sticks used in the assault.
The suspect, Alex Musinguzi is still admitted in hospital and is being guarded while inquiries still at hand.
